The History

America’s Revolutionary War hero, General Lafayette, was a 19-year-old French aristocrat when he arrived in South Carolina on June 13, 1777 with the intent to serve as General George Washington’s second-in-command. Local legend has it that their meeting took place right beneath the live oak tree that resides on the back patio of our own Islander Bar & Grill

A Ghost Story

If you’re looking for a place with a little history and mystery, then The Islander Bar and Grill is the spot. Over one hundred years ago locals used our live oak as a meeting point to catch the ferry to get across the marsh to Pawleys Island. A young couple was tragically killed by their carriage when the horse went wild and crashed into the tree. Their spirits are said to haunt this area to this day.

History, mystery and a little off center, it all comes together at the Islander Bar and Grill.
